Post from Kenton Dashiell, Deputy Director General, Partnerships and Capacity Development at IITA.
“CGIAR is committed to strong partnerships through effective stakeholder engagement. To find out from our stakeholders what they think of CGIAR’s partnership efforts, we commissioned a comprehensive independent assessment of Stakeholder perceptions through GlobeScan. The complete report will be posted on our website on May 31, 2013, with the outline of an associated Action Plan. Today we release a highlights summary of that report. The process to get to this point involved guidance from a Stakeholder Perceptions Survey Committee, of which I was a part.
The information obtained from this survey has come at the right time for IITA, CGIAR Centers and CGIAR Research Programs. We are all expanding the network of partners with whom we work, and also becoming more dependent on the good work of our partners to accomplish and amplify our mission of improving food security, and eradicating hunger and poverty. The results of this survey will help us to improve our partnership development skills, and this should lead to more productive and successful projects that will improve the lives of millions of smallholder farmers. The message to us is clear: we are doing well but there are some obvious areas where improvements are needed. There is need for us to learn how to be more open and transparent with our partners, and this specific area will be given special attention.”
