The Africa Agriculture Science Week (AASW) is now in full swing. Amidst the groups of researchers, policy makers, students and other relevant stakeholders, another key group has emerged — the social media hub. A group of 50+ onsite social reporters, with another 120 remote social media supporters are busy publishing content.
Throughout the week we will highlight key blog posts from the social media reporters at the event.

Today’s featured post is “Yes we can! Enhancing productivity and profitability of Africa’s main crops” written by Emmanuel Ohiomoba, a social media reporter for AASW6.
The post relates to a side event that took place on Monday 15th July featuring the Support for Agricultural Research and Development of Strategic Crops (SARD-SC). The SARD-SC project is set to raise the productivity of maize, cassava, wheat, and rice by 20% in twenty selected countries in Africa. Three members of the CGIAR Consortium, the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Africa Rice Center, and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) are partners in this initiative which aims to reduce the amount of food being imported from other continents.
