Stockholm World Water Week is a premier event for all things water related. The event is hosted by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). Collaborating partners include CGIAR and FAO. The conference will take place from August 26 to September 1, attracting 2,000 to 3,000 participants.  This year’s theme is Water and Food Security, which fits into the broader themed niche for 2009-2012 of “Responding to Global Changes”.

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR consortium member, has the honor of receiving this year’s Stockholm Water Prize, considered one of the most prestigious prizes for outstanding achievement in the field of water management. Watch the interview with Colin Chartres, IWMI’s Director General, as he discusses the prize:

IWMI will be participating in a number of sessions along with other CGIAR consortium members including the CGIAR Challenge Program on Water and Food (CPWF), WorldFish, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and CGIAR partner International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).  There will also be a launch event on Tuesday, August 28th for the CGIAR Research Program on Water, Land, and Ecosystems (WLE) in the WLE, IWMI, and CPWF booth at 5:30pm.

CGIAR and its partners will have a strong presence at World Water Week this year with involvement in over 20 seminars and workshops.  For those who wish to follow discussions and emerging messages, follow @IWMI_Water_News and @WLE_CGIAR on Twitter, the #wwweek and #Ag4Dev Twitter tags, and check for blog posts and updates on the IWMI website and WLE’s Stockholm World Water Week landing page.
