Bioversity International is the only global non-profit organization that places the use and conservation of agricultural biodiversity in smallholder farming systems at the center of its work.
It works in areas of significant levels of rural poverty to help farmers: throughout Asia, in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Bioversity focuses on rain-fed farming systems, primarily managed by smallholder farmers, in areas where large-scale agriculture is not a viable option.
Its research influences policy decisions and investment in agricultural research, from the local level to the global level. From local traditions to global treaties, Bioversity’s work creates new opportunities for economic development, health and sustainability.
