The CGIAR-FARA Award for Excellence in Agricultural Journalism in Africa 2008

The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research ( CGIAR) and the F orum f or Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) are pleased to announce a joint Award f or Excellence in Agricultural Science Journalism in Africa.

An Award each will be given for an outstanding print article and an outstanding broadcast story. Each of the two Awards carries a cash value of US$ 5,000 and will be presented to the winners at the CGIAR Annual General Meeting in Maputo, Mozambique on December 2 nd, 2008.

The Awards will recognize journalists whose work has most effectively communicated agricultural science issues to the general African public. The Award is open to any African national who is a print or broadcast journalist actively reporting for the general public in Africa. Both individual and team entries are welcome. The prize however remains the same for both individual and team entries. The work submitted must be recent, having been published or broadcast between January 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008.

To apply for the FARA-CGIAR Award for Excellence in Agricultural Journalism in Africa, download and complete the entry form and submit together with only one published or broadcast story. Entries in English, French, Swahili and Portuguese are welcomed. Deadline for accepting entries is September 1 , 2008.
