CGIAR: Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research
Nourishing the Future through Scientific Excellence

Return to CGIAR Science Awards

The COM+ Communications for Sustainable Development Award recognizes excellence in the field of communications, demonstrated through clear impacts and real changes in support of sustainable development. Issued by COM+ and thus backed by its members, the awards recognize the role of communications in improving awareness and understanding of sustainable development issues, promoting increased transparency and dialogue between government and other stakeholders, and influencing policy outcomes to provide pathways out of poverty while protecting our valuable environmental resources.

In December 2007, two COM+ Communication Awards of US$10,000 each will be granted: one for a campaign that communicates science to benefit people and the planet; and another on climate change. The 2007 awards will be presented to the respective winners at the upcoming Consultative Group on International Agriculture Research (CGIAR) Annual General Meeting (Beijing, December 2007) and the 13th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (Bali, December 2007). The CGIAR is managing the nomination and selection process for the 2007 COM+ Awards.
